Manipulative Bastard: He convinces the animals the Guard has humiliated by playing on the fact that they are wanting revenge, and promising them a large amount of food in return for joining him.
Legion of Doom: As he stalks the Guard, all of the predatory animals the Guard has humiliated begin to join him for revenge against them.
He also decides not to eat Kongwe after Fuli manages to catch him.
Know When to Fold 'Em: He decides that hunting Ajabu isn't worth the trouble when Beshte charges him.
Hidden Depths: While he initially appears to be your average greedy loner villain, Season 3 shows he is quite capable of manipulation when he has to do so, as shown when he pretends to offer the Guard refuge, and then tries to kill them.

It's because of his persistence that the Lion Guard will stay alert for him if he retreats on the first try, knowing he will keep striking until he's beaten. In his third appearance, he continuously menaces Kongwe because he also likes the taste of tortoise, not caring if she retracts into her shell.
The Determinator: He's been trailing an okapi from his original home all the way to the Pride Lands.

Cats Are Mean: The first feline foe the Guard faces, and is unpleasant to boot.
Although Mama Binturong later tries to take leadership away, he is still portrayed as the one in charge, and as a result, remains the main antagonist.
Big Bad: After Scar's defeat, and the Lion Guard sojourn to the Tree of Life, Makucha becomes the main antagonist, following them on their way in order to feast on the rare animals the Guard will encounter.
In Season 3, he becomes a main character, serving as the main antagonist, even when Mama Binturong attempts to take command.
Ascended Extra: He only appeared once in Season 1, and he only served as a guest character in Season 2 twice.
A leopard who originally lived in the same jungle as Ajabu, but has since taken up residence in the Back Lands.
